The U.S. National Science Foundation is an independent federal agency that supports science and engineering in all 50 states and U.S. territories. NSF was established in 1950 by Congress to promote the progress of science, advance the national health, prosperity and welfare, and secure the national defense.
The STEM Education Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (STEM Ed PRF) Program is designed to fund postdoctoral fellowship projects that enhance the research knowledge, skills, and practices of recent doctoral graduates in STEM, STEM Education, Education, and related disciplines. This includes a focus on developing organizational postdoctoral fellowship projects that support a cohort of fellows in engaging in ongoing research, developing independent research projects, and implementing independent professional development plans under the mentorship of a sponsoring researcher. The intent is for fellows to commit full time to the fellowship's activities, with the program specifically encouraging applications from historically underrepresented groups in STEM and those with community college or minority-serving institution backgrounds.
