The mission of the funder is to support economic opportunities for older adults and the organizations that serve them, focusing on system-level and programmatic innovations across three priority areas: ending ageism, advancing digital equity, and supporting aging in place. They aim to advance equity for marginalized or geographically underserved communities through funding a wide range of initiatives, including research, startups, pilot projects, and direct services.
The Sudden & Urgent Need (SUN) Grants, offered by NextFifty Initiative, are designed to assist small nonprofit organizations in Colorado by addressing immediate, one-time needs that arise unexpectedly and require prompt attention. These grants cater to organizations that encounter unforeseen expenses which do not recur annually and cannot afford to wait for other funding avenues. With a commitment to social equity, these grants are particularly focused on aiding the most underserved groups within the aging community, including but not limited to, individuals of color, disabled, homeless, LGBTQ+, low-income, rural, and immigrant/refugee demographics. Applications must target the aging or aging-disabled population above 50 years of age, or their caregivers, with grant amounts reaching up to $30,000 for one-time, urgent needs.
