The Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants program aims to strengthen nonprofits by enhancing their core systems and operations. This initiative supports time-limited projects that improve infrastructure at the organizational level, thus enabling nonprofits to more effectively carry out their missions. The grant focuses on various aspects of organizational operations, including collaboration, communications, data management, equity, evaluation, financial management, fundraising, governance, leadership, mission & strategy, and program delivery capacities. These capacity-building projects are tailored to make organizations more efficient and sustainable in achieving their goals.

  • May only receive a Nonprofit Capacity Building Grant once every three calendar years
  • Applications must be for one of the following eligible capacity-building activities: Board training and education; Critical equipment; Staff training; Strategic planning; Succession planning; Technology/software; Other assessment, consulting, or facilitation that improves an identified area of organizational capacity

Political or lobbying activity organizers
Projects lacking a charitable purpose
Applicants for already completed projects/events
Religious or sectarian groups aiming for conversion
Activities not aligning with the Diversity and Non-Discrimination Policy.
