Review Criteria

Historically, our funding efforts have been distributed across San Mateo County and the northern part of Santa Clara County. However, following an extensive learning process, Sand Hill Foundation now seeks to strategically collaborate with nonprofit organizations that meet the following criteria:

  • Commit at least half of their operations to serving the population of San Mateo County.
  • Run initiatives in specific locations within our interest areas—namely, Daly City, South San Francisco, Redwood City/North Fair Oaks, and Coastside—targeting families that are economically disadvantaged.
  • Engage a broad range of stakeholders in their program design and management, demonstrating a high level of cultural sensitivity and inclusion.
  • Are recognized as reliable sources of outstanding service within the community.
  • Concentrate on supporting young people between the ages of 11-25 and their families, who are navigating everyday challenges on a constrained budget.
