Overview

The Micro Accessibility Grants program aims to support arts organizations striving to make their arts programs accessible to persons with disabilities, providing grants of up to $2,500. This initiative endorses a variety of purposes including but not limited to, hiring artistic personnel of all abilities across levels and enhancing audience inclusion. The grants target Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) arts organizations in the South Arts Service region states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. A 1:1 funding match is required, with half of this match being a cash contribution. A strong emphasis is placed on supporting organizations that are BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identifying, led by or providing substantial programming for persons with disabilities, and those based in rural communities. This program is a testament to South Arts' commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts, facilitated through a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

  • Primary mission focused on the arts, serves as the primary arts provider in its community, or commits to a project connecting the arts to persons with disabilities
  • Provide a 1:1 funding match (50% must be a cash match)
  • Conduct programming/projects as outlined in the Usage of Funds section
  • Limited to one Accessibility Grant award per fiscal year (July 1-June 30)
  • Must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI)
  • Projects may include programming and facilities enhancements that improve accessibility
  • Open to applications for in-person, live virtual presentations, and education activities including the engagement of local artists
  • Projects not required to serve the entire geographic community but should have targeted participants

Ineligibility

Organizations without a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI)
Screening partners with funding from South Arts' Southern Circuit program
Recipients of South Arts’ Presentation Grants or Traditional Arts Touring program funds
Applicants with outstanding final reports for any South Arts grant
Applicants who fail to acknowledge South Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts support
Organizations planning to use grants for benefits, fundraisers, or non-transferable events
Uses related to construction costs, cosmetic work, actual building construction, consultant fees for facilities fundraising.
