Type of Support

Overview

The Recycling Equipment Grants program is designed to support local governments and non-profit organizations working with local governments by enabling them to purchase essential recycling equipment. This program centers around three main priorities: supporting applicants that were eligible for or received the Recycling Rebate between Fiscal Years 2011 and 2015, encouraging the development of public/private or public/public partnerships, and prioritizing applicants that employ developmentally disabled individuals as defined by T.C.A. §33-1-101 (11). The grant focuses on acquiring key recycling equipment necessary for the collection, processing, operations, or preparation of recovered materials for transport and marketing. Eligible equipment under this grant includes recycling carts with recycled content and embedded RFID tags, containers, compactors, balers, glass crushers, densifiers, sorting systems, and fork lifts, with an openness to consider collection trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or higher.
