Our mission – to plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community, and promoting stewardship – is fulfilled through cutting-edge programs and innovative practices.
The Illinois Community Canopy grant program, facilitated by Trees Forever, supports tree-planting projects in disadvantaged communities across Illinois. The goal is to diversify tree canopies in public areas like streets, trails, parks, and schools. This initiative addresses the need for more diverse, disease, and storm-resistant trees in response to natural or man-made disasters, like the emerald ash borer outbreak. Grants, ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 for first-time applicants (and up to $20,000 for communities meeting certain milestones), are offered to support these greening efforts. Trees Forever also provides expert assistance for planning successful planting projects and developing tree management strategies.
