The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is designed to support highly integrated research teams of three to six Principal Investigators (PD/PIs) to tackle ambitious and challenging research questions that align with the mission of NIGMS. These questions should be significant enough that they are beyond the capabilities of one or two investigators. The grant encourages collaborative efforts that aim for breakthroughs in their fields, necessitating synergy and managed team interactions. Projects suited for this grant should not be achievable through individual efforts and should not focus on the creation, expansion, or maintenance of community resources, new technologies, or infrastructure development. This FOA is open to applications that include NIH-defined clinical trials but does not accept clinical trials aimed at testing the safety and efficacy of interventions for regulatory approval.
