The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
The grant program aims to support the development and/or pilot testing of interventions targeting HIV/AIDS-associated stigma and its impacts on the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, as well as on the quality of life of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH). It focuses on a variety of specific areas including innovation in the measurement of HIV-associated stigma, stigma and adolescent/youth health, the effects of stigma on family members or caregivers of PLWH and on aging individuals living with HIV, novel stigma reduction interventions linked to increased care-seeking behavior or decreased transmission, and coping mechanisms for the added burden of stigmatization due to HIV and other comorbidities/coinfections.
