Miniaturization and Automation of Tissue Chip Systems (MATChS) (UT1/UT2 - Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

From US Department of Health & Human Services: National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.

Type of Support

Overview

This grant specifically targets the development of Miniaturized Automated Tissue Chip Systems (MATChS) through Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) cooperative agreements. The primary goal is to support the creation of tools and technologies that facilitate higher-throughput automated measures, which include on-line sensing and rapid acquisition and analysis of data for reduced manual handling. The outcome of funded projects should be an increased availability of miniaturized automated tissue chip platforms that can be utilized in drug development and various other applications within biomedical research. This entails a cooperative approach where small business concerns (SBCs) will develop milestones and benchmarks in collaboration with NIH staff, focusing on the progression of the project towards an automated system and demonstrating pathways to commercialization.
