Overview

This grant program aims to support the development of essential community facilities in rural areas to enhance the quality of life and promote the orderly development of communities. An eligible area is defined as rural including cities, villages, townships, towns, and Federally Recognized Tribal Lands with no more than 20,000 residents. Fundable projects can include the purchase, construction, improvement of essential community facilities, and purchasing equipment. Examples of such facilities include healthcare, public facilities, community support services, public safety services, educational services, utility services, and local food systems. Grant assistance is offered on a graduated scale based on community size and median household income, covering up to a maximum of 75 percent of eligible project costs for those in the smallest and lowest-income areas. The intended beneficiaries are rural communities in need of infrastructure and services to support their development and improve residents' lives.
