Type of Support

Overview

This grant program is designed to assist eligible rural communities in preparing for, or recovering from, emergencies threatening safe and reliable drinking water. Qualifying emergencies include droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, leaks, or seepages, and other disasters. The program offers two types of assistance: water transmission line grants up to $150,000 and water source grants up to $1,000,000. These funds can be used to construct or repair water lines, develop or repair water sources, intake, or treatment facilities. Importantly, a federal disaster declaration is not required to qualify for this assistance.
