Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Georgia

From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

Type of Support

Overview

This grant program supports qualified organizations in carrying out local self-help housing construction projects for very-low- and low-income individuals and families in rural areas. It encourages a cooperative approach where group members provide most of the construction labor on each other's homes, under the supervision and with the technical assistance of the overseeing organization. The grants can be used for giving technical and supervisory assistance to families, helping other organizations provide such assistance, and activities related to recruiting families and assisting them with loan applications. The goal is to empower communities through collaborative construction efforts, enabling participants to acquire housing through their collective labor.
