Type of Support

Overview

This grant program is aimed at aiding qualified organizations in executing local self-help housing construction projects. It focuses on enabling groups of very-low- and low-income individuals and families to construct their own homes in rural areas by providing most of the labor themselves, with the assistance of the overseeing organization. The grant supports activities such as giving technical and supervisory assistance to the participating families, aiding other organizations in providing self-help technical and supervisory assistance, recruiting families, helping them complete loan applications, and carrying out related activities that facilitate their participation in the program. The projects are targeted at rural areas, with eligibility determined through the USDA Eligibility Site.
