From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

Type of Support

Overview

The grant program aims to support qualified organizations in their endeavors to facilitate local self-help housing construction projects. These projects are designed to assist groups of very-low- and low-income individuals and families in rural areas to construct their own homes. Participants in the program, under the supervision of the grant recipients, contribute a significant portion of the labor needed to build each other's homes. The funds may be used to provide technical and supervisory assistance to the participating families, aid other organizations in delivering self-help technical and supervisory support, recruit families, assist them in completing loan applications, and undertake other related activities that facilitate their participation in the program.
