Overview

This grant program is focused on enhancing public health and the environment in eligible rural areas by providing funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage for households and businesses. The funds can be utilized for various purposes including but not limited to the acquisition, construction, or improvement of drinking water, sewer, solid waste, and storm water management facilities. Additional allowable uses of the funds encompass legal and engineering fees, land acquisition, permits and equipment costs, initial operation and maintenance, interest incurred during construction, and the purchase of facilities to improve or sustain service. This broad goal is aimed at improving infrastructure, public health, and environmental quality in targeted rural communities.
