Washington Sea Grant (WSG) is part of a national network aimed at research, education, and outreach activities related to marine and coastal environments. Funded by NOAA, it seeks to address urgent needs, develop emerging program areas, and strengthen marine sector collaborations through a federal-state partnership.
WSG's grant program aims to fund activities that respond to new or changing needs in marine and coastal areas, which may not be identified during routine planning and budgeting cycles. The grants support a variety of purposes, including rapid response research, education, outreach, seed grants for new technologies or investigators, and student support for long-term projects. These Program Development grants foster joint activities with other Sea Grant programs, initiate early start-up projects, and participate in efforts that build marine sector connections.
