The mission of the Alabama Power Foundation is to support community development by investing in initiatives across five key areas: Educational Advancement, Civic and Community Development, Arts and Cultural Enrichment, Health and Human Services, and Environmental Stewardship.

Overview

The "Good Roots" grant program, in collaboration with the Alabama Urban Forestry Association and the Alabama Forestry Commission, offers up to $1,000 per grant to fund tree planting in public spaces across central and south Alabama. This initiative aims to beautify and enhance communities, including parks, streets, schoolyards, churches, and libraries, focusing on maintaining an excellent quality of life, improving environmental quality, and fostering active community involvement.

  • All trees shall be planted according to the procedures prescribed by the International Society of Arborculture or the National Arbor Day Foundation

Individuals or groups seeking funds for shrubs, bedding plants, or landscaping items
Those unable to provide planting, watering, or maintenance through alternative funding or volunteers
