The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) aims to advance scientific knowledge to improve poultry health, well-being, and productivity, thereby ensuring a safe and abundant global food supply. Since its inception in 1957, AAAP has served as a platform for those involved in avian disease research and management, facilitating knowledge exchange through conferences, publications, and educational materials, while also supporting the next generation of poultry medicine specialists through scholarships and awards.
The Richard B. Rimler Memorial Paper Award is established in memory of Dr. Richard B. Rimler, a notable figure in poultry disease research. This award recognizes excellence in poultry disease research by a graduate student, aiming to support and encourage emerging talents in the field. Travel awards are granted to selected candidates to present their paper at the American Association of Avian Pathologists Annual Meeting. The award, first given in 2002, includes travel expenses up to $1,500 for the receipient(s). Candidates for this award are not strictly required to hold a D.V.M. degree.
