The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, aiming to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) focuses on six priority research areas to guide the funding of research projects, aiming to advance its mission. These areas include the Etiology of cancer, Obesity/Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL), Screening and Diagnosis, Treatment, Survivorship, and Health Equity Across the Cancer Continuum. The Clinician Scientist Development Grant (CSDG) is specifically designed for individuals working at U.S. academic institutions or eligible non-profits, holding a doctoral degree with an active clinical license and involved in clinical care, but who have not been principal investigators on significant individual mentored training or R-level grants. Grant awards range from 3 to 5 years, offering $135,000 per year for direct costs plus an additional 8% for allowable indirect costs.
