AIER’s mission is to affirm free enterprise, economic liberty, property rights, sound money, and legal institutions that uphold the rights of individuals to be free, as long as their actions do not infringe on the rights of others.
The Harwood Visiting Research Fellowship by AIER is a residential program designed to support researchers and academics for 10-12 weeks. It focuses on advancing AIER's mission through the fellows' work in various fields such as economics, political science, philosophy, history, law, among others. The fellowship aims to provide a collaborative environment where fellows can work on projects of their choice, present their research, engage with staff and other fellows, and publish their findings on AIER’s website. It emphasizes making substantive progress on projects, fostering long-term relationships within the academic community, and contributing to public discourse. Selected fellows receive a living stipend, housing, lunch on workdays, and, for fellowships exceeding 10 weeks, covered travel expenses to and from the AIER campus in Great Barrington, MA.
