The Truman Library Institute aims to enrich public understanding of history, the presidency, and America's unique form of government. It focuses on world-class museum exhibits, research grants, public programming, and education programs for students and teachers. Founded by President Truman, its goal is to promote democracy through education, inspiring service and purpose.
The Truman Library Institute's Scholar’s Award grants $30,000 to established post-doctoral scholars researching aspects of Harry S. Truman’s life, career, or the public and foreign policy issues during his presidency. The grant aims to support senior scholars by providing financial freedom from teaching or other employment, allowing them to focus on their research for a substantial period. The award's granting is contingent upon underwriting support and the quality of proposals received; it may not be awarded annually but is intended to be offered every other year, in even-numbered years, in two $15,000 installments.
