The mission of the American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) is to initiate, encourage, and support research and public understanding of the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean world, from the earliest times. ASOR aims to achieve its mission in a manner that is apolitical and without any religious affiliation.
ASOR offers membership and Annual Meeting Scholarships to support its members, especially those who have experienced financial hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. These scholarships aim to facilitate ongoing involvement and contribution to the field by covering membership fees, either partially (25%, 50%) or in full. The scholarships are part of ASOR's commitment to supporting research and understanding of the Near East and wider Mediterranean world. To apply for these scholarships, current or lapsed ASOR members must express their interest and outline their financial hardship.
