The mission of the American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) is to initiate, encourage, and support research and public understanding of the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean world, from the earliest times. ASOR aims to achieve its mission in a manner that is apolitical and without any religious affiliation.

Overview

ASOR provides various scholarships, including Membership & Annual Meeting Scholarships and Student Travel Grants. These are aimed at supporting members and involving students in the field by covering expenses related to attending the ASOR Annual Meeting. Specifically, up to ten grants of $250 each are available to students enrolled at an institution that is an institutional member of ASOR. The grant program is guided by the principle of fostering education and involvement in the field of Near Eastern and Mediterranean research.
