Overview

For 2023, the Bamford Foundation has adjusted its grant-making strategy to adapt to a more limited budget, focusing on maximizing the impact of smaller grants and collaborating with new and existing partners. The foundation prioritizes four areas within greater Tacoma and Pierce County to improve the quality of life and strengthen communities: Basic Needs, Early Learning and Parent Support, Expanded Learning Opportunities, and Access to Higher Education and Job Training Opportunities. The foundation seeks to support 501c(3) nonprofit organizations, programs, partnerships, and capital projects that are effective, innovative, and promote equity, respect, and diversity. These efforts aim to empower individuals and families to meet their basic needs, foster early childhood development, provide learning opportunities beyond the classroom, and enhance access to higher education and job training, thereby supporting self-sufficiency and community engagement.
