The grant program focuses on supporting independent medical educational activities for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and researchers. These educational activities can be either accredited or non-accredited. It specifically targets institutions or organizations eligible for funding. The broad goals are to enhance medical knowledge in specific areas of interest, which include Biosimilars related to Ophthalmology and Immunology, as well as Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Requests for grants, applicable both in the US and globally, are reviewed on a quarterly basis.

  • Organizations must not provide commercial services to Biogen or must ensure appropriate separation between the part of the organization providing commercial services to Biogen and the part seeking grant funding
  • Third-party providers utilized must not be owned or controlled by practicing physicians, HCPs, or their immediate family members
  • Grant request must be unsolicited
  • Grant must not provide tangible benefit to Biogen
  • Grant request must be for a future project or program
  • Funding amount requested must reflect real and fair market value
  • Funding from other pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies in addition to Biogen is preferred
  • Organization must be registered for more than 2 years
  • Organization must confirm receipt of payment and verify fund usage for all previous Biogen-supported activities
  • Must comply with all regional and local codes, laws, and regulations including anti-corruption, transparency, and privacy regulations

Ineligibility

Recipients who would use funds to directly or indirectly encourage purchase or prescription of Biogen's products or services
Programs requiring funding for travel, lodging, or registration expenses for non-faculty healthcare professionals
Projects with operating expenses not exclusively dedicated to the project or program, such as equipment or salaries
Support for promotional exhibits or display spaces
Stand-alone entertainment or social events
Staff or professional development programs
Advertising space purchases
Programs held in locations that detract from the educational activity's primary purpose.
