The mission of the funder is to advance the field of biophysics by supporting research and development in various scientific disciplines such as math, chemistry, physics, engineering, pharmacology, and materials sciences. This support aims to encourage the use of interdisciplinary skills to explore and develop new tools for understanding the mechanisms of life and the complex systems within our bodies.
The Biophysical Society's award program aims to recognize and honor excellence within the biophysics community. It offers sixteen different awards, supporting a wide spectrum of achievements, from significant research contributions to service in the field of biophysics. The program encourages members to nominate deserving candidates, now also allowing self-nominations with certain restrictions. Among its accolades is the Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award which focuses on recognizing individuals who have made notable contributions to the field beyond research, including service that advances the discipline. This award, presented biennially, includes an honorarium for the recipient.
