Brown-Forman Grants aim to partner with organizations that align with its strategic focus areas, highlighting their commitment to enhancing community wellbeing through various means. The grant supports initiatives that:

  1. Enhance Arts and Cultural Living by increasing access to diverse, vibrant, and educational arts and cultural experiences.
  2. Ensure Essential Living Standards by supporting social services that improve well-being and strengthen communities, and by funding educational initiatives that offer opportunities for lifelong success.
  3. Empower Responsible and Sustainable Living through investments in initiatives that encourage moderation and reduce alcohol-related harm, and by protecting the environment and conserving natural resources important to communities and their business.

The grant program provides both the Brown-Forman Foundation and the Corporation avenues for charitable contributions, supporting different kinds of requests including unrestricted operating support, restricted program support, and event or performance sponsorships. The Foundation considers requests of $25,000 and above, while the Corporation looks at requests up to $25,000, including consideration for event sponsorships with material return benefits.

Review Criteria

Preference is accorded to entities based in Louisville, Kentucky, reflecting our strong historical ties to our base city, guiding our primary philanthropic endeavors. However, with over 30 production and regional offices worldwide, each is equipped with a Civic Engagement Committee responsible for assessing and directing funds to address local community demands. Organizations situated in regions beyond Louisville, Kentucky, are invited to present a concise project synopsis, limited to 250 words, for potential funding evaluation.
