The mission of the Community Foundation is to build a vibrant community with great opportunities for all, by empowering organizations and fostering change across Muskegon County.
The Community Empowerment Small Grants (CESGs) aim to strengthen the community by supporting organizations or groups, including those without 501(c)(3) status, in their efforts to foster change. These efforts focus on strengthening community partnerships, building relationships, and providing hope and opportunity within Muskegon County. Specifically, the program supports initiatives like neighborhood book clubs, community clean-ups, financial literacy classes, creation of marketing materials for community resources, programs that encourage unity, activities supporting youth, professional development for skill building, and community conversations and trainings. Funding wise, groups can request up to $3,000, with a maximum of $3,000 granted per year, and typical grants ranging from $500 to $2,000.
