Community Foundation of Henderson County aims to help individuals make lasting contributions to causes important to them. It seeks to be a visible philanthropic leader, powered by a dedicated board and qualified staff, enabling donors at all levels to invest in charitable funds that meet community needs.

The Community Grants program by the Community Foundation of Henderson County is supported by donors’ unrestricted and broad interest gifts, allowing the Foundation to respond to changing community needs over time. The program encourages creative and collaborative proposals in various interest areas including Animal Care, Arts and Culture, Civic Affairs, Conservation, Education, Health, and Human Services. It seeks proposals that demonstrate collaboration, impact a broad population segment, are relevant to community needs and resources, enhance or improve organizations serving underserved clients, and emphasize prevention and early intervention.

Organizations conducting annual fund campaigns
Organizations involved in religious or political activities
Individuals (including those seeking scholarships)
Organizations not tax-exempt under Sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(a) of the IRC
Organizations seeking to augment endowments or underwrite fundraising events
Organizations whose primary function is fund allocation to other charities or projects
Applicants seeking second year or multi-year funding
Requests for routine operating support for ongoing programs
Requests for conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
Programs or agencies applying for more than one grant within a twelve-month period.

Priority Areas for Support:

The Foundation prioritizes proposals that address key areas of impact, including:

  • The effects and prospects presented by expanding in Henderson County.
  • The impacts of poverty within Henderson County.
  • Enhancing availability of Health and Mental Health Services.
  • Promoting public engagement with the Arts.

Moreover, the Foundation is particularly receptive to proposals that:

  • Offer innovative pilot initiatives with potential to serve as benchmarks for other programs.
  • Demonstrate sustainable prospects for ongoing funding.
  • Aim to elevate the community's cultural consciousness.
