Overview

The Community Economic Development Grant program supports DeKalb County communities in economic planning and project implementation, incentivizing actions toward unique economic development opportunities, and fostering tangible economic progress. Funding supports data gathering, planning, or implementation projects aligned with a community’s current planning processes, with a grant limit of $20,000 per community over the program's lifetime.

  • Located within one of the 15 distinct communities in DeKalb County (Sandwich, Somonauk, Lee, Hinckley, Waterman, Shabbona, Maple Park, Cortland, DeKalb, Malta, Sycamore, Kirkland, Kingston, and Genoa)
  • Must provide evidence of support and connection to the finalized economic development plan
  • Must provide a minimum of 10% of the total requested amount in cash matching funds; in-kind support must be included and described in the budget but cannot count towards the 10% match
