Overview

The Greater Susquehanna Valley Competitive Grant Cycle represents the First Community Foundation Partnership's initiative to use its platform to address critical social issues affecting the quality of life within its community. With a focus on visionary leadership characterized by creative, resourceful thinking, the inaugural focus under this grant cycle is to tackle "Systemic Racism." Through the "First Focus Project", FCFP aims to convene diverse groups for education and discussions, fostering a collective response to this critical issue. The foundation values and seeks potential grantees that demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all levels of their operation, from staff and board to program partners and the communities they serve.

  • Serving residents of Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and/or Union County
  • Missions relating to art & culture, education, health & human services, youth, environment, and economic development
  • Impact a broad range and diverse group of people
  • Address community needs and/or opportunities in innovative and creative ways
  • Result in attainable and measurable goals
  • Illustrate financial strength to ensure long-term self-sustainability, especially when seeking start-up or seed funding
  • Show collaboration with other nonprofits without duplicating efforts
  • Leverage or generate other funding sources and/or propose use of grant to attract matching funds
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in staff, board, program partners/service providers, and constituencies

Ineligibility

Organizations seeking funding for general operating expenses
Those incurring costs before grant approval date
Entities applying for multi-year funding
Seeking coverage for operating/program deficits
Applying for re-granting purposes (case-by-case)
Religious organizations not partnering with a qualified 501(c)(3)
School Districts and School District Foundations (exceptions for collaborations)
Engaged in political advocacy for specific parties or candidates
Seeking loans, scholarships, fellowships, honorary awards
Individual applicants
Organizations with overdue final reports on previous grants.

Priority will be accorded to organizations that have incorporated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices into their operations.
