From Foundation for the Carolinas

Type of Support

Overview

The Plus Collective Grassroots Grants program is designed to assist Charlotte-area organizations dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community, particularly emerging groups that may or may not have 501(c)(3) status. Its primary aim is to bolster the capacity and amplify the effectiveness of these nascent organizations, thereby addressing unmet needs within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg LGBTQ+ population. Grants, which do not exceed $2,000, primarily support general operations that align with The Plus Collective's vision of being principle-guided, diversity-inspired, and community-supported. The program prioritizes funding for initiatives that foster understanding, appreciation, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals, cultivate leadership within the LGBTQ+ community, and engage diverse backgrounds, orientations, and identities in its services and values. Key considerations for funding include the project's impact on the LGBTQ+ community in Charlotte, effectiveness in utilizing resources, budget efficiency, engagement of underserved populations within the LGBTQ+, clarity in objectives and outcome measures, and the organizational talent and experience to fulfill these objectives.
