Rapid Outcomes from Agricultural Research (ROAR) Grant Program

From Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR)

We support pioneering science to provide everyone access to affordable, nutritious food grown on thriving farms.

Type of Support

Overview

The Rapid Outcomes from Agricultural Research (ROAR) program provides urgent funding for research and outreach to combat emerging or unanticipated threats to the nation’s food supply or agricultural systems. This includes rapid response research to understand and develop solutions for plant and animal pests and pathogens. ROAR aims to fill urgent research gaps with one-year funding until traditional, longer-term funding is available. The program has supported efforts against invasive weevils, lettuce wilt, swine viruses, and cattle ticks. ROAR grants emphasize swift, diverse, and extensive research collaborations and require a rigorous scientific review process and matching funding, focusing on pre-farm gate pest or pathogen outbreaks.
