The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation seeks to enhance the well-being and quality of life for people living in its service area by supporting initiatives across various priority areas such as Community Economic Development, Education, Health, Arts & Culture, and meeting Basic Needs. While occasionally introducing special initiatives, the Foundation is dedicated to building a strong, equitable community through strategic grantmaking.
The grant program aims to support and fund projects within several key priority areas, which include Community Economic Development, Health, Education, Arts & Culture, and Basic Needs. Specific goals within these areas range from increasing workforce development, supporting small businesses, and enhancing local communities with visible improvements in the economic development category; improving access to healthcare and expanding healthy recreational opportunities in the health sector; increasing access to STREAM education and family engagement in educational programs; fostering creativity and cultural exchange through arts and culture initiatives; and providing equitable access to food, shelter, and clothing to meet basic needs. Each priority area guides applicants towards projects that not only aim for immediate impact but also strive for long-lasting community benefits, promoting overall community resilience and strength.
