The Linnean Society of New South Wales aims to advance research in Natural Science. It supports continued studies in the sciences for those who have completed a regular curriculum and obtained a Science degree, through funding from a bequest by its first President, Sir William Macleay.
The Betty Mayne Scientific Research Fund for Earth Sciences focuses on offering financial support for short-term original research projects across a broad spectrum of geology. This encompasses, but is not limited to, regional geology, tectonics, structural geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, geomorphology, palaeontology, biostratigraphy, igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochemistry, mineralogy, economic geology, and meteoritics.
