    Overview

Bridging Michigan grants aim to ignite critical thinking and discussions about the enduring social, economic, and cultural issues of systemic inequity that fragment communities. The program supports diverse Michigan-based nonprofit projects that use the humanities to examine the historical contexts of current debates. Eligible activities include reflective conversations, reading series, film screenings with discussions, web projects, walking tours, public lectures, panels, and the creation of exhibits. The initiative seeks to empower citizens to engage in meaningful dialogue, offering timely and intentional responses to community needs. A key requirement is the involvement of at least one humanities professional or community content expert in the projects to foster dialogue, critical thinking, and analysis. This grant aims to bridge divides through conversations and capacity building, addressing systemic inequities in Michigan.
