The Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCoS) aims to support initiatives that demonstrate a deep understanding, acceptance, and demonstration of multicultural values. They prioritize projects that contribute towards their mission, achieving aims and objectives aligned with their Strategic Directions. MCoS promotes multicultural values across five streams of work: Cultural Continuity, Celebration of Diversity, Anti-Racism, Intercultural Connections, and Integration, emphasizing the importance of retaining ethnocultural traditions, celebrating diversity, combating racism, fostering intercultural connections, and ensuring community integration.
The Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan Strategic Initiatives grant program supports approximately 15 projects, events, and festivals annually that align with their mission. This grant offers up to $3,000 for projects that engage with at least one of the five streams of multicultural work: Cultural Continuity, Celebration of Diversity, Anti-Racism, Intercultural Connections, and Integration. These projects may range from festivals like Lloydfest and Harvest Moon Festival to leadership and educational programs like Next Up and initiatives focusing on reconciliatory relationship-building and connecting newcomers with communities. Priority is given to projects that exhibit a profound comprehension of multicultural values and demonstrate a clear link between the activities and their impact, along with a plan to evaluate success.
