The U.S. National Science Foundation is an independent federal agency that supports science and engineering in all 50 states and U.S. territories. NSF was established in 1950 by Congress to promote the progress of science, advance the national health, prosperity and welfare, and secure the national defense.
The AGEP program supports projects that work towards achieving racial and ethnic equity in STEM academia, particularly by increasing the number of faculty from underrepresented minority groups. It focuses on creating new models for STEM career pathways and implementing evidence-based changes within institutions to support the professional growth of underrepresented STEM doctoral candidates, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty members. The program specifically targets African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders, acknowledging the potential of doctoral candidates to transition into faculty roles. Deadlines for the AGEP Institutional Transformation Alliance and AGEP Catalyst Alliance proposals are outlined to facilitate participation.
