The mission of the Nelson County Community Fund (NCCF) is to support those in need within Nelson County through grants to local charitable organizations and agencies aimed at improving the lives of its residents. With a focus on collaboration, NCCF works with nonprofits, funders, community leaders, and partners to address key issues in the county under the oversight of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Since its inception in 2000, the NCCF has awarded nearly $1.4 million to over 50 agencies and programs, impacting a variety of areas including education, scholarships, care for seniors, medical and dental services, hunger, childcare, support for individuals with disabilities, and refurbishment of substandard housing. The grant program seeks to support projects with the potential for significant community impact and favors imaginative and collaborative solutions to community needs. Supported categories include human services, education, environment, health, and community needs and development. The NCCF is interested in funding innovative new programs as seed projects as well as sustaining grants for ongoing vital services, especially those filling gaps in existing services and benefiting a broad segment of the community.
