To enrich the cultural life of the state through leadership that preserves, supports, strengthens, and makes excellence in the arts accessible to all Nevadans. The mission envisions a Nevada where the arts enrich all residents' lives, enhance community livability, and contribute to the state’s economic revitalization. Goals include increasing public access to the arts, incorporating arts into education for all Nevadans, strengthening the environment for artists, and supporting diverse organizations promoting excellence in the arts.
The Arts Learning Express Grant (ALX) from the Nevada Arts Council is primarily focused on facilitating short-term teaching artist residencies of up to 20 hours. It targets both community organizations/public institutions and individual teaching artists listed on the Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artist Roster. The goal is to provide flexible and expedited funding support on a first-come, first-served basis to encourage early applications due to limited funds. The grant is structured around two six-month cycles, accommodating activities in the latter half of 2024 and the first half of 2025. It mandates that residencies must offer hands-on educational experiences in the arts or traditional cultural practices, while excluding support for concerts, assembly programs, or mere lectures. Activities are expected to be collaborative efforts planned with both artists and relevant community or educational representatives, ensuring engagement is closely monitored and appropriately structured for varying durations.
