The Nevada Native Plant Society strives to promote the appreciation, conservation, and understanding of Nevada's native flora. Through educational programs, field trips, and research grants, NNPS seeks to foster an awareness and appreciation of the plant diversity within the state, encourage the conservation of Nevada's plant species and their habitats, and support botanical research.
The Margaret Williams research grants program provided by NNPS awards up to two grants annually, each not exceeding $1000. These grants support basic botanical research aimed at deepening the understanding of Nevada's native and naturalized flora. The research should span from examining individual species to exploring entire communities or ecosystems. Fields of study can include conservation, landscape analysis, ecology, biogeography, or taxonomy, among others. This initiative is designed to enrich knowledge about Nevada's diverse plant life.
