Promising Futures Grants: Education

From The New York Community Trust

As New York’s community foundation, we foster and engage in enduring and innovative philanthropy.

Type of Support

Overview

The "Promising Futures" grant program is dedicated to building promising futures by supporting young people, providing job training and placement, making educational and justice systems more equitable, alleviating hunger and homelessness, improving family and child welfare services, and advancing social work practices. The focus within education aims to ensure all students in New York City's public schools can reach their full potential and be prepared for college and work. It supports projects aimed at system-wide improvements and reforms that advance equity, narrow the opportunity gap, and create safe and supportive learning environments. Key areas include enhancing academic outcomes for underserved students, adopting research-informed programs, supporting educators with data to monitor progress, increasing access to advanced coursework, expanding support services for students, retaining qualified educators, and promoting policy advocacy to account for the needs of all students, especially those historically inadequately served.
