The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation aims to improve society through support for the performing arts, ocean conservation, and poverty alleviation. Founded in 2011 to honor Paul M. Angell, the Foundation endeavors to continue his legacy of compassion, creativity, and hard work.
The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation Conservation Program dedicates itself to combating threats against marine biodiversity, including climate change, habitat destruction, overfishing, and pollution. It supports initiatives for sustainable Marine Protected Areas, reforming international fisheries governance, conserving coral reef ecosystems and shark and ray species, increasing legal capacity for marine conservation, ending plastic pollution, and decarbonizing maritime shipping for climate action. The Performing Arts program backs classical music and theater, mainly in specified American regions, aiming to enhance the presentation, perpetuation, and propagation of performing arts. Meanwhile, the Social Impact program targets the promotion of equitable, safe, and thriving communities, especially focusing on low-income ALAANA communities. It addresses the root causes of inequities through support for education, economic empowerment, justice, antiracist education, organizing, and advocacy, aiming for systemic change primarily within the Chicago metropolitan area for new grant requests.
