Overview

The grant focuses on supporting grassroots community-based leaders and organizers to strengthen rural communities and people, nurturing their capacity for creating real societal transformation toward a just society. It emphasizes education reform, immigration rights, and voter engagement. The Discretionary Fund, part of the funding program, supports existing and new grantee partners working towards economic, social, and environmental justice in rural southern communities. It provides grants for capacity building, community organizing events or activities, and voter engagement, with a cap of $3,500 per year for organizations. There are three primary funding areas: General Discretionary for community organizing activities or small projects, Technical Assistance for capacity building needs, and Travel Assistance for participation in conferences and civic engagement actions.
