The mission of the funder is to support grassroots trans-led groups in the U.S. and U.S. Territories that are organizing and fighting for trans justice. They aim to empower trans communities to define their own needs and provide financial support for a variety of initiatives, including health, wellness, legal aid for undocumented communities, mutual aid projects, cultural events, and more. They prioritize trans leadership and focus on addressing intersecting oppressions such as racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, and incarceration.
The grant program is designed to support a wide range of initiatives led by and for trans communities. These initiatives can include online community organizing trainings, support groups, guidance on trans health and wellness, legal support, mutual aid projects, cultural festivals, healing spaces, and housing assistance. The program is inclusive of both well-established and newly forming groups, regardless of their formal status or incorporation. Specifically, the program funds projects that address the needs identified by trans communities themselves, emphasizing solutions that tackle racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other intersecting oppressions. The overarching goal is to amplify and support trans leadership and to provide the resources needed for transformative community work.
