The Research and Entrepreneurial Development Immersion (REDI) Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) Grant aims to advance the career development of early-career scientists who have a keen interest in entrepreneurship. This initiative is designed to simultaneously promote entrepreneurial skills and facilitate the transition of these individuals into the industry, particularly through roles in small business concerns (SBCs). The grant employs the R41/R42 Industry Development Award mechanism to allow SBCs to support the hiring and remuneration of postdoctoral fellows and early-career researchers as Principal Investigators (PIs) or Program Directors (PDs), thereby expanding their research capacity and aiding in product development efforts. A significant emphasis is placed on providing entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities for the PD/PI. Ideal candidates for this award are postdoctoral fellows and early-stage researchers with a strong background in technology discovery who are eager to refine their entrepreneurial abilities and engage in industrial settings. A critical requirement for awardees is that the majority of their employment be within the supporting SBC, underscoring the program's objective of fostering a smooth transition for PDs/PIs into the business sector.
