The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
The goal of this FOA is to support doctoral candidates from a variety of academic disciplines for up to two years for the completion of the doctoral dissertation research project. This award will facilitate the entry of promising new investigators into the field of substance use/substance use disorder (SU(D) research, enhancing the pool of highly talented SU(D) researchers. Applications are particularly encouraged from those who can contribute to diversifying the research workforce as described in the Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity (NOT-OD-20-031).
