From USDA: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.

Type of Support

Overview

The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) aims to enhance existing conservation efforts and strengthen operations for participants. It focuses on improving grazing conditions, crop resiliency, and wildlife habitat through custom CSP plans. The program is designed to address natural resource concerns by providing technical and financial assistance. This assistance aims to solve problems in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner, focusing on soil loss, water excess impact mitigation, reductions in agricultural operations contributing to airborne soil particles and greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting energy efficiencies. CSP benefits include enhanced resiliency to weather and market volatility, decreased need for agricultural inputs, improved wildlife habitat conditions, increased crop yields, and improved cattle gains per acre. Additionally, the CSP includes specific initiatives such as the New CSP Grasslands Conservation Initiative, which supports grazing land conservation, and efforts to back climate-smart agriculture and forestry.
