Type of Support

Overview

The program supports eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies threatening the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. Types of qualifying emergencies include drought, flood, earthquake, tornado or hurricane, disease outbreak, chemical spill, leak, or seepage, among other disasters. Financial support includes grants for water transmission lines up to $150,000 and water source projects up to $1,000,000 for activities like constructing waterline extensions, repairing breaks or leaks in existing water distribution lines, constructing water sources, intake, or treatment facilities. The aim is to prevent damage or restore access to clean water in rural areas and towns, improve the natural environment, and promote business growth. Applications are accepted year-round through the RD Apply online platform or local RD offices.
